Personal Statement

Throughout my professional career I have shown an enthusiastic and knowledgeable approach to my work. During the limited time I have been professionally working in the IT industry I have gained a great deal in both technical and interpersonal skills. I constantly strive to achieve new skills and have put a great deal of effort into furthering my experience with the .NET 2.0 framework. The latest of which is the MS Certification to MCTS Web Apps level. On a none-technical level I enjoy taking the lead within a team of individuals and can manage the time of myself and of those around me with some proficiency.

A lot of my free time is willingly spent examining and researching the latest in techniques for developing and improving Web Applications. In my day to day roles I do feel it is important to ensure working knowledge is available on the more popular and current technologies in use. My work with i-Snapshot has allowed for a range of side projects to be encountered including developing an SMS gateway for use in remote locations around the world and developing a content managed website for a local government body.

Outside of computing my other hobbies include health and fitness, DJ’ing, socialising, film and spending time with loved ones.

Work Experience - IT Industry

2005 - Current i-Snapshot.com

The first year with Rocket Science was spent working part time primarily as a Web and Windows developer for a range of small applications. I joined the company full time in June 2006 after graduating, into a dedicated Web Developer role. Have primarily worked on a single B2B application utilising SMS technology. Part of my role as Developer included working with a small team of personnel to develop and operate the system on a day to day basis. My developer work has involved working with a wide range of Microsoft technology, ASP.NET 2.0, SQL Server 2005 and ASP.NET AJAX amongst others.

November 2006 – Current: Thornaby Community Project (Volunteer)

Approximately three months in my spare time have been spent developing a simple web page for a local gardening charity. Since that was developed a photo gallery has been implemented for the charity and the look at feel changed to reflect the main website. The photo gallery has yet to be taken live but the main website can be seen at http://www.thornabycommunityproject.org.uk Part of the project was to include some training for the charity’s owner which allowed updates using Microsoft Frontpage 2003

November 2006 – Current: Unite

Starting November 2006 I have been volunteering my time on a number of technical issues experienced by a local mediation charity named Unite (http://www.unite-mediation.org). The work has involved fixing a number of bugs with an Access 2000 database and overhauling the application to resolve a persisting concurrency issue.

2004 – 2005: BT

One year spent with BT Exact in Ipswich as part of a University placement for my sandwich course. Roles included:

  • Testing for a Oracle 8i datawarehouse ongoing development project
